My old grandmother used to say, “There is more than one way to skin a cat” and that was her way of saying any problem could be solved.

I have discovered that for each and every problem in the universe there are solutions in the universe when one sits quietly enough to listen for them.  I often think that having ones ears impaled with ear phones constantly hooked up to the likes of iPads and iTunes all day long will be the down fall of the human race.

Along the long road of my life I also discovered that of the many traits I have the most fabulous one is that I am simply a problem solver!

Now I do not mean I can sit down along side of the likes of Albert Einstein and come up with solutions like relativity, but I can come up against most challenges whether they are in the home, kitchen, in real estate, making money or whatever, discern the problem and usually solve it.

I also have discovered that when one practices what one preaches such as this fabulous problem solving trait while one’s children are growing up then they will usually absorb it.  This I know as a hard fact as I look at the way our five children come up with answers to their problems in their daily work and family life.

Often this fabulous trait is called creativity or talent or even imagination and that is fine, but basically it is simply solving the problem at hand.

Being a problem solver does not mean one knows it all and often it means that one has to brainstorm with one or more people and come to a solution.  However, it does mean knowing all the facts and recognizing exactly what the complexity of the problem is.

Sometimes I am amazed as I watch people struggle with something and I can see the answer staring them right in the face.

As I get older and I find my physical strength is no longer what it used to be I have to get really fabulous in my problem solving for gardening ideas or even just doing general housework.  It often involves utilizing others and showing them exactly what I want done.

However, the best and most satisfying and most fabulous trait I have are in the field of solving real estate problems.  It is there that I shine the most and it is there that I have had the most fun during my 43 year career in that field.  Though I have been retired from actively working daily in that field, I still do consultant work for old clients and also I do business consultant work for new ones because until the spark dies out the fabulous trait of problem solving is still alive and well and active!

"Tread the Earth Lightly"... and in the meantime.. may your day be filled with..

Pace, Light and Love,

"iPads and iTunes all day long will be the down fall of the human race." I must agree, as now, so many of us are falling listening to and believing the wrong things. You are so correct Arlene.

The talent that you describe is not developed easily or cheaply or without struggle. You are a great example of the kind of person who knows that living is a multi-faceted art and discipline. Our modern technologies can be used profitably, unfortunately, they are also employed for pure distraction and easy entertainment. Time is all we have really, and it is people like you who learn how to use Time wisely and wonderfully. Beautiful Article.
