Having to determine who my favorite person is seems simple enough, yet when I think about it, it boils down to whom one wants to spend a lot of time with.

During my lifetime I have met a lot of people whose company I really enjoy and just as many whose company I did not enjoy.  I happen to be a person who has hundreds and perhaps thousands of acquaintances, but only a handful of really good true friends.

To get onto my “favorite person” list one has to be reliable, enjoyable, alert, loyal, witty, smart, creative, steadfast, caring, humorous, serious, be a good listener, be a good talker, know when to take charge, know when to stand back and let someone else take charge, know when to agree with me, know when to disagree with me (because when two people always agree, one of them is not necessary), be self assured, be humble when necessary, know what they were talking about, know more than me, be able to learn more each day, not be boring, not be a complainer, do their share and more, be able to put up with me regardless whether I am having a good day or a bad day, just to name a few things.

Over the past 50 or 60 years there have been quite a few people who made the list such a Mary Converse who lived through our times when we had our wall papering business and is still my friend or Betty McAllister who just was interesting and fun to be with and still is, or Penny and Leon LeBeau who were the best of neighbors and friends, or Alice and the late Dick King who also were good neighbors and were always there with a helping hand and Carole Dalphin who has the best humor in the world and all have given us fond memories as we think we have given them.  As life continues I have been lucky to add Rosie Hays, my most favorite “Mother Earther”.

In the business world one of my most favorite people is one of the smartest men I know and I am proud to call him my good friend and mentor, the great Bob (Mr. Wonderful) Steele.  I could add several others, but Bob is my most favorite business person and along the way his wife Nancy joined the list and they popped over to be duplicated on my personal favorite people list.

However, there is and has been only one person, who for the past 63 years, fits all the parameters of my “favorite person” list and that happens to be…. Drum roll please…

Ladies and Gentlemen, now introducing my most favorite person, Carl Correll!

I am glad you guessed correctly. He is a man's man, who happens to listen to ladies when they talk about inane things such as their brownie recipes and is a sweetheart.
